Our new Captain and Christmas Appeal

From A to Z – Ava to Zara!

As we farewell Ava, I would like to take a moment to sincerely thank her for her outstanding leadership, positivity, and initiative during her time as our 2025 Community and Service Captain. Ava has made a wonderful contribution to service-learning across the school, inspiring others to get involved and give back to our community. We are grateful for her enthusiasm and the example she has set for future student leaders.

I am delighted to welcome Zara as our 2026 Community and Service Captain! Zara has been part of the St George’s community since Year 7 and is a proud member of Mandela House. Known by her peers as funny, competitive, and entertaining, Zara is passionate about promoting physical health and fitness, believing that staying active helps us feel stronger and happier in our daily lives. She hopes to strengthen connections between year levels and encourage everyone to get involved in service initiatives.

When asked for her best advice about service, Zara shared:

Getting involved in service and volunteering, especially with friends, is so much fun and you will also make a genuine difference in other people’s lives.”

I look forward to seeing Zara bring her energy and passion to this important leadership role in 2026.

Christmas Backpack Appeal

This term, we are proud to be supporting Anglicare WA’s Christmas Backpack Appeal, helping children across Western Australia start the new school year with the supplies they need. Many families begin the year without basic school essentials, and this initiative is a wonderful way for our St George’s community to make a meaningful difference.

Students and families are encouraged to pack a new school backpack with the listed stationery items – such as exercise books, pens, pencils, glue sticks, rulers, and a lunch box – and bring it to Ms Yoxall or your PCG teacher for collection.

All items must be brand new, and backpacks are due by Thursday, 14 November.

Thank you for your generosity and support in helping others this festive season. Together, we can bring joy and opportunity to children who need it most. It would be brilliant if we could donate atleast one backpack per PCG. Over to you St George’s.
