CAMP PHILLIP ISLAND

Our recent camp to Phillip Island was a memorable experience for all students, filled with rich learning opportunities, personal challenges, and plenty of fun. Even though the spring weather proved to be particularly cold and unpredictable, students showed resilience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude throughout the entire trip.

Students stayed in excellent accommodation that offered a range of recreational facilities, giving them plenty to enjoy during downtime. From shared common areas to outdoor spaces for games and socialising, the accommodation helped set the tone for a supportive and energetic camp environment.

The itinerary was packed with experiences that captured the unique environment and culture of Phillip Island. At Churchill Island, students explored the historic farm precinct, learning about early settlement while engaging in hands-on activities such as meeting the animals and walking the island’s scenic trails. The Penguin Parade was a standout highlight, with students braving the cold evening to watch the little penguins waddle ashore, an unforgettable wildlife encounter for many.

Surfing sessions allowed students to step outside their comfort zone, with instructors guiding them through water safety, technique, and plenty of practice in the waves. Despite the chilly conditions, students embraced the challenge and celebrated each small success on the surfboards.

Exploring the township of Cowes gave students the chance to enjoy local shops, walk along the foreshore, and take in the relaxed coastal atmosphere. The pelican feeding experience was another favourite, offering students a close-up look at these impressive birds and an insight into their daily habits.

Throughout the camp, students represented the school and our values to the highest standard. Their cooperation, kindness, and ability to support one another made the experience not only enjoyable but truly meaningful. Staff were incredibly proud of the way students conducted themselves in every setting.

A huge thanks to our wonderful staff for leaving their families, classes and routines to take our students out on this experience.

We look forward to returning to Phillip Island next year for another engaging and rewarding camp experience.
