Semester 1 Highlights

It’s been a busy Semester in Visual Arts and Technology.  We've celebrated students’ successes such as Year 12 VCE Media Alumni, Jackson Bertram whose film was selected as one of the best in the state at the annual Top Screen awards.

We’ve run Design and Technology week, where students participated in several hands-on activities across the Visual Arts and Tech space.

And we’ve launched the theme for this year's Visual Arts and Technology Showcase, the 'Shining Bright Showcase: Future Stars of Art and Technology'! The showcase will take place in Term 4 and provide and feature the work of our VCE students. Our community will be invited to attend the annual Showcase Evening, to view and vote on the exhibition of works and celebrate the fantastic work of our VCE students. We are thoroughly looking forward to it and planning is already well underway.

In Year 7 and 8, students hit the ground running, completing their first Technology rotations. The Technology rotations had students completing two of the four subjects from Systems Technology, Product Design, Food Studies, and Textiles over the course of the year, producing some incredible work.

In Year 7 students created Bunting in Textiles, Wacky Racers in Product Design, The Make a Difference Project in Systems Technology and making delicious pizzas for their design task in Food Studies.

The Year 8’s built on their skills making more complex dishes in Food Studies and made incredible tacos for their design task, a circuit with 2 LED's in Systems Technology, a bird box in Product Design and a soft toy in Textiles. We can't wait to see what the next two rotations have in store for our students. As we wrap up Semester 1, it’s fantastic to both see and hear some of the amazing learning that has taken place in our Visual Arts and Technology classrooms.

We hope all students have thoroughly enjoyed learning and exploring new skills across the Semester and look forward with anticipation to their next Visual Arts and Technology rotation or elective next semester.
