Middle School Recap

Year 7 & 8

Year 7

Overall, the Year 7 cohort have found Wantirna College to be an inviting learning environment. We are pleased to report that the Year 7 students have had a wonderful first semester at the College!

As a group, we found transitioning from primary school to high school a little challenging. That being said, we’ve now learnt to successfully navigate the school and get from class to class… until there is a room change. We’ve also gotten much more confident with using our lockers… except for the occasional lock mishap.

Throughout this semester, we have been invited to attend an array of activities, such as Year 7 Camp and the homegroup competitions, to make new friends and build connections with not only other students but the teachers as well.

We have also had the opportunity to participate in the annual Wantirna College Swimming Carnival and Cross Country. Some of us, were fortunate enough to be involved in the recent Music Camp, forming connections with students from other year levels.

Finally, we’ve been lucky to visit KIOSC twice this term to expand our STEM learning and play around with the cool technologies they have available, including 3D printing and VR.

Year 8

As Term 2 comes to an end, wanted to share what's been happening with the Year 8s. One definite stand-out was Challenge Week in term one. Throughout Challenge Week the Year 8s participated in a range of actives from Belgrave Treetops to Laser Tag.

Another key event was the Flipside performance. It focused on the importance of how to be safe online. The Year 8s recently had our homegroup comp with 8H winning the dodgeball competition. Looking ahead, the Year 8s will be choosing their electives. We hope you all have a fun holiday, and we can't wait for Term 3.
