Careers & Pathways - Year 12

VTAC Assembly

As Year 12 students head into their final term of secondary school, it's time to turn their attention to life after Wantirna College. Term 3 will focus heavily on pathways planning during Explore, with key sessions to support students as they begin applying for university, TAFE and other post-school options.

In Week 1, all Year 12 students will attend a Pathways Assembly with important information about:

  • The VTAC application process

  • Applying for SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme)

  • Exploring scholarship opportunities

VTAC (Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre) applications will officially open in Week 3, and students will begin the process during their Explore classes. All students will:

  • Create a VTAC account

  • Start their course preferences

  • Learn how to manage change of preferences, SEAS and scholarships

To be ready, students must come to their Week 3 Explore class with their:

  • Their USI (Unique Student Identifier) number - Get your USI here

  • Their mobile phone (needed for email/SMS verification)

All Year 12 students are required to book a one-on-one pathways meeting with Mrs Jessie Dennison or Mr Knowles during a study period or lunchtime next term (if they have not already spoken with us this year). These meetings are a great chance to get support tailored to individual goals and plans.

Don’t Forget Open Days!

Students should also be planning to attend Open Days throughout July and August. This is the best way to explore campuses, speak to staff, and experience different study environments before locking in preferences.

The following website has a link of the various Open Days and their details:

We have also attached a document with a summary of different Open Days, plus a guide on how to get the most out of attending Open Day sessions.

Term 3 of Year 12 is extremely busy, but with the right preparation, it’s also exciting. We look forward to supporting our students every step of the way.
