News from the Library

Books, Breaks & Farewells

Here’s a quick look at what we covered in the library this term; ran displays for World Refugee Day, Pride Month, and Reconciliation Week; helped students borrow and renew hundreds of resources; promoted eResources like Wheelers and Oliver for reading and research; started the CBCA Shadow Judging; Why we weed!

Thanks to everyone who made use of the space - we're already planning what’s next for Term 3!

Oliver Tips: Find Books by Genre

Explore Your Local Public Library These Holidays

Don’t forget - your local public library is open during the school holidays and offers more than just books!

Public Libraries Victoria (PLV) encourage young people to stay curious and connected during the break. Many branches run free school holiday programs, including:

•              Coding and tech workshops

•              Creative writing sessions

•              Movie screenings and board games

•              Craft, LEGO®, and STEM activities

Most libraries also provide free internet, study spaces, printing, and access to digital resources like eBooks, audiobooks, and research databases—perfect if you’re travelling or just want something flexible.

Find your nearest branch or check out what’s on via the Libraries Victoria app or by visiting:

A library card is free and easy to get—just visit your local branch with a parent or guardian and sign up. If you’re already a member, remember to bring your card and check what’s available!

Wrapping Up Term 2

As we wrap up the term, I want to thank all the students and staff for making the library such a welcoming and engaging space. It’s been a full and busy term, and I’ve truly appreciated everyone’s support.

A big thank you to Mr Le and the IT crew for keeping things running, to Ms Bayley, Ms Stocks, and Ms Dykstra from Ignite Literacy for their consistent support, to Ms Ferdinands, the CRTs and lunch time duty staff, and the Library Leaders for holding the fort in the library space, and to Ms Daniels for her steady presence, quiet organisation, and sound advice — the school’s lucky to have you!

With Ms Montgomery back from her well-earned break, I’m officially signing off. ~ Ms Cao, Library
