Our renovated FLC for Term 4 -
Our main central building, the FLC (Flexible Learning Centre) has been out of action all year as major renovations have been underway. Although renovations will continue in other parts of the school, the FLC will be handed back to the school for the start of Term 4 this year, which we're all very excited about. It has been completely transformed inside and we're very much looking forward to the benefits of the redesign to support a more quiet and ordered learning environment.
The move back into the FLC is a particularly complicated affair because it will coincide with the closure of one of our other main buildings, the senior building, which will be closed for renovations through to March 2027. A significant number of staff need to relocate offices and our library needs to be completely packed up. Some of this will take place over the school holidays but we must factor in a disrupted start to the school term for Monday and Tuesday of week 1 (5th and 6th October). Some key points:
- Year 11 and Year 12 classes will continue as ordinarily timetabled, noting that some room changes will take place but they will have their normal sessions in their normal classes. Maintaining momentum for these students, particularly Year 12s in their final stage of the VCE, is critical and they should all be at school as normal.
- Ordinary lessons for Years 7, 8, 9, and 10 will not run on Monday, the 5th and 6th of October. Instead there will be preplanned work in larger combined classes to allow time for staff to finalize moves (movement of offices and learning materials).
- Students in Years 7, 8, 9, and 10 can attend school on these two days but I invite parents and carers to consider supporting their child to complete their online learning (Via Compass) from home if at all possible
Courtyard renovations are also well underway and they're forecasted to be complete in time for the start of the 2027 school year.
