From Lina McAliden, Year 4 teacher

Is your face symmetrical?

Reading and Writing

Over the past few weeks, Year4 has integrated Reading and Writing, exploring Indigenous and settler perspectives of the colonisation of Australia. Students investigated what life was like for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples prior to colonisation and examined the significant impacts colonisation had on communities and culture. In contrast, students also explored life in England from a convict’s perspective and learnt why the English government transported convicts to Australia.

Maths

“Is your face symmetrical?” has become a popular question in Grade 4 as students have been busy exploring Shapes and Symmetry. Students have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes and investigating their different properties. Last week, students showcased their creativity by designing impressive 3D cities using isometric paper. Be sure to take a look at some of the amazing work created, along with examples of symmetry spotted on our very own faces!

Athletics Day

We had an incredible time participating in Athletics Day. From soaring shot puts to leaping over hurdles, students demonstrated enthusiasm, determination, and excellent sportsmanship throughout the day. It was wonderful to see students encouraging and cheering each other on. A big thank you to the P.E. teachers for organising and facilitating such a fantastic event, and to all the parents and families who came along to support and cheer on the students!
