Education Week – Open Classroom Event
As part of Education Week, we were delighted to welcome families into our school for our Open Classroom event last Friday. This opportunity allowed parents and carers to visit classrooms across both campuses, see learning in action, and gain insight into the programs taking place across the school.
Students were proud to share their work and learning experiences, and classrooms were filled with enthusiasm as visitors observed a range of activities across year levels. We thank all the parents and carers who were able to join us for this occasion. Keep reading through this newsletter for further highlights from the event.
National Reconciliation Week
This week we acknowledge National Reconciliation Week at NMPS.

National Reconciliation Week 2026 provides our school community with an important opportunity to reflect on our shared histories, cultures and achievements, while strengthening respect and understanding for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Beginning with National Sorry Day on 26 May, we acknowledge the Stolen Generations and recognise the importance of healing, truth-telling and reconciliation.
Throughout the week, students and staff are encouraged to learn, listen and engage in meaningful conversations that celebrate First Nations cultures and inspire us all to contribute to a more inclusive and connected future.
We also had our Koorie family morning tea on Tuesday morning, welcoming Koorie families into the school to meet each other and connect with Aunty Julianne, our Koorie Engagement Support Officer.
School Review
Monday marked the first day of our School Review process, with the review panel spending time meeting with a range of focus groups and visiting classrooms across the school.
Throughout the day, panel members spoke with students, staff and parents/carers of our school community to gain valuable insights into our teaching and learning programs, school culture and areas of strength and growth. The panel also participated in classroom observations, providing an opportunity to see our learners engaged in a variety of learning experiences and to witness the positive relationships and high expectations that support student learning across our school.
We look forward to Day 2 of our Review on Tuesday 9th June, where we will have an opportunity to confirm the key priorities for NMPS moving forward, to set the direction of our next four year School Strategic Plan.
