Group 6

Group 6 has had a blast in term 2!

The students have loved looking at our school’s theme of ‘Books and Characters’. This theme has helped build students confidence in their comprehension skills and listening skills. Group 6 has completed various crafts, writing tasks and even acted out some of their favourite characters. We have especially enjoyed reading ‘Three little pigs’. Where we acted out blowing out the houses, we even created our own 3 houses using coloured paper and Tissue paper. Each week we focused on a new book to learn about different characters.

We continued to focus on our literacy skills where each week we focused on a new letter. During letter of the week students listened to songs, found different objects in a sensory bin, created fun crafts and continued practising their tracing skills. The students have made amazing progress with identifying letters in their environment. During the letter H week, students created their own horses, they practiced their fine motor skills when pasting the horse onto coloured paper.

Specialist sessions have been a fan favourite for group 6. They have done an amazing job of learning to transition as a group to and from their specialist activities. Group 6 has especially loved music where they were able to explore new instruments and sensory movement activities. Swimming is a weekly favourite for our students, each student has grown amazing confidence in the pool by swimming with their swimming teachers each week.

We are so proud of the amazing progress everyone has made this term. We are looking forward to more fun times in term 3. Have a safe and fun holiday!
