Group 17

Group 17 has had a wonderful semester full of movement, life skills and creative learning. We have been engrossed in our Food Technology program learning how to make toast, smoothies, rice crispy treats and many more healthy snacks. This helped to build our daily motor skills as well as our understanding of what a nutritious meal consists of. This also allowed the students to use their visuals to start to communicate their preferred choices of food such as vegemite, strawberries and apple and gave them an opportunity to work on core language such as “more”, “finished” and “wait”.
In literacy, we have covered a variety of stories under the theme of “Books and Characters” linking them to specific interests we have observed within the classroom. Group 17 have been enjoying our sensory stories intertwining movement, interactive objects and songs with their book choices such as “The Hungry Caterpillar”, “Dear Zoo” and “Where is Green Sheep?” to further encourage engagement and allow the stories to come to life.
Additionally, we have had a lot of fun being outdoors where we learned about the changes of seasons during our gardening program. The students observed the different coloured leaves and made a beautiful collage from what they collected.
Finally, swimming has been one of the highlights of the week where students have been working hard on their aquatic skills.
We are immensely proud of the progress everyone is making and are looking forward to the memories we will build together in the following term. Have a wonderful holiday!
