Principal report

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." – Helen Keller
As we come to the end of Term 2, I would like to thank our students, staff and families for another wonderful term of learning, growth and achievement. It has been a busy and productive term, and while everyone is certainly looking forward to a well-earned holiday break, there is much to celebrate across our school community.
Throughout the term, students have engaged in a wide range of learning experiences both within and beyond the classroom. Our recent Curriculum Day provided staff with valuable opportunities to collaborate and further develop their understanding of Victorian Curriculum 2.0. The professional learning and planning undertaken will continue to strengthen teaching and learning programs across the school and support positive outcomes for our students.
Our secondary families have greatly appreciated the Post-School Options Tours, which have provided valuable information and insights into pathways available beyond school. These opportunities continue to assist families in planning for the future and exploring the many possibilities available to our students after they leave school.
Students also thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Monash Tech School incursion this term. The hands-on activities encouraged creativity, problem-solving and engagement with emerging technologies, providing exciting learning opportunities for our students.
Staffing continues to be a challenge across the specialist school sector, and we remain committed to exploring every avenue available to attract and retain high-quality staff.
As we conclude the term, we are excited to celebrate our annual Footy Day, one of the highlights of the school calendar. This much-loved event brings students and staff together in a fun and inclusive way to celebrate community spirit and friendly rivalry. A huge thank you to our Parent Group for once again generously organising hot dogs for all students to enjoy on the day.
I would like to sincerely thank our dedicated staff for their ongoing commitment and care, our families for their support and partnership, and our students for the enthusiasm and positivity they bring to school each day. Together, we continue to create a welcoming, supportive and successful learning environment where every student can thrive.
I wish everyone a safe, relaxing and enjoyable holiday break and look forward to welcoming students back for Term 3 on Monday 13 July.
Kind regards,
Lindy Abernethy
