Physical Education 

In our classroom: 

 

In Prep, we have continued working through our unit on Athletics. We have been working and practicing our running skills by doing different relays, such as: running, skipping, hopping on one-foot, running backwards, and a sidewards run. Our prep students have continued learning and playing various minor warm up game’s such as ‘Fruit salad’ and ‘China wall’. 

 

Our grade one and two students have continued working through their unit on Athletics. We have also continued leaping over hurdles. 

Our students have continued learning and playing various minor warm up game’s such as ‘Fruit salad’ and ‘China wall’. 

 

Our grade three, four, five and six students 

have continued working on their unit of fitness. Students completed a shuttle run and a continuous 5 minute run to warm up. They then completed a mini circuit that included different activities, such as: push ups, planks, sprinting, star jumps, jogging on the spot and mount climbers. This week they have completed the beep test! 

Amazing effort by all students! 

Regional Athletics: 

On Tuesday 18 October the following children competed in the Regional Athletics Carnival:

  • Ahmed Hoff - Long Jump & Hurdles
  • James Luca - 100M and Triple Jump
  • Lorenzo Montillana - Shot Put and Long Jump
  • Omba Masudi - Shot Put 
  • Shako Masudi - Shot Put
  • Branson Botha - 200M and 800M
  • Mikayla Madu - High Jump
  • Fainlow West -  Long Jump and High Jump

These children displayed incredible sportsmanship, resilience and effort. I am super proud of the way all of our children encouraged their peers and congratulated their competitors after their events.

 

A massive congratulations to: 

  • Omba on coming third in Shot Put
  • Ahmed for coming first in Hurdles and second in Long Jump
  • James for winning 100M and Triple Jump
  • Lorenzo for coming second in Shot Put and first in Long Jump

James, Ahmed and Lorenzo will now proceed to the Victorian State Athletics Carnival in a few weeks.

James, Ahmed and Lorenzo are our first ever children to proceed to State finals for Saltwater College. We wish you boys all the best and we will have our fingers crossed for you all.
