Leadership Report

Written by Matt Hart

It is hard to believe that we have almost completed the first month of Term Four. Students have been working hard in all subject areas. Details of student work can be found on Year Level pages.

There are many amazing whole school events coming up. We look forward to sharing details of events such as ‘Christmas Carols’ and ‘Transition Days’ in future newsletters.

No Hat, No Play

We would like to remind families of the importance of wearing a sun-smart hat during outdoor play. It is the policy of the school that all students wear hats for the first and last terms of school when participating in outdoor activities. As mentioned in previous newsletters, we understand that this is often an item of school clothing that can be easily lost. Please ensure that hats are clearly labelled with the student's name.

Prep Information evening

The recent Prep Information evening for our 2023 Prep students was a huge success. It was wonderful to so many new families in attendance. Current Prep teachers and leaders were able to share information related to the Prep Curriculum and the operations of our school. Families were also provided with a school tour which included a viewing of the Prep classroom area. We look forward to our upcoming transition days in November.

Job Day

Amelie, Laiba, and Ryan from Year 6 are continuing their action from the Year 6 Exhibition. They created their own Unit of Inquiry. Their central idea was ‘Education may provide opportunities to end the cycle of disadvantage.’ Lines of inquiry were

  • Factors that support a well-developed education system
  • An inquiry into successful education systems around the world.

As part of their action, we are holding a 'Job Day' that will take place on the 14th of November. Students and teachers can dress up as they are, or want to be when they grow up. There will be a gold coin donation.

The money donated will be announced at the end of the Job Day and will be donated to UNICEF Education.

Anzac Legacy

The Year Six students recently conducted an Exhibition displaying their knowledge and course of action for an issue of interest.

Please see the below message from Kiara, Suharna and Molly

‘Our group chose the ANZAC Legacy and raising awareness and gratitude for them. As part of our course of action we created an online petition to build a Poppy Tree Statue in the Wyndham area to raise more awareness for the Anzacs. Not long ago we emailed Wyndham Council our petition hoping that they would take our idea into consideration. Along with that we also baked ANZAC cookies and sold them to donate money to ‘Soldier on Australia’, an organisation that supports ex and current war veterans in Australia.'

We created a petition and would love if anybody could sign it. As said above, the petition is online so you can sign it from the comfort of your home. Below is a link to our petition:
