International Baccalaureatte

Dear Saltwater Community,

The past fortnight brings much to celebrate across Saltwater College.

As we continue to grow our staff wealth of knowledge in integrating the Primary Years Programme, supporting student voice, choice and leadership, we continue to share with families how they can support learning from home in having rich conversations connecting to student learning in line with current Units of Inquiry being explored across year levels across the school.

We have worked hard as a college to build a strong guaranteed and viable curriculum that is vertically and horizontally aligned with the Victorian Curriculum and the Primary years Programme Framework.

On November 14 and 15, our school will be visited by Di Fisk and Nicholas Palmer who will tour the school, observe lessons and meet with the school community.  The purpose of this visit is for Nick and Di to assess whether we as a college have demonstrated the standards and practices in place to become an IB World School.

Community members required:

In order to assist Nick and Di to form a greater understanding of our organisation on our verification visit days, all teaching staff have been responsible for adding evidence to our Learning Management System where the documentation supports the implementation of the Primary Years Programme. We are currently looking for a group of community members that can speak on behalf of the community in terms of community involvement with the college in line with our Annual Implementation Goal of working in and strengthening partnerships and engagement with parents, carers and families.

If you are interested in supporting Saltwater College as a community member please reach out to Anne Farrugia and Michael Nicolaides for more details.

Last week the Prep team invited future families of 2023 to our college to showcase how families can best prepare their children for the upcoming school year. The parents were informed of the scope of the school year and of how they can best prepare children for success in an ever-changing world as they begin their primary school journey. As our wonderful college continues to grow, we aspire to continue to work in partnership with families, supporting the goals and effectively, outcomes for all students. We are grateful that our community are so supportive of student learning and work together to achieve collective desired results for our students.
