Whittlesea Division Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to James T (year 7) for his efforts at the division swimming carnival held at Coburg Outdoor Olympic Pool in February. James won the 50m Breaststroke and came third in the 50m Freestyle in his age group, qualifying for the regional competition later in March.
Well done James!
Year 9/10 Volleyball
On Thursday the 21st of March our year 9/10 boys and girls Volleyball teams competed in the Whittlesea division competition at Darebin Community Sports Centre.
Both volleyball teams had been training extremely hard twice a week but sadly the training had proved to not be enough to contend.
The boy’s team had won their first two games and had lots of momentum going into the rest but then proceeded to drop slowly due to having to play 3 games straight after each other which was proven to have a negative impact on the team’s success in the rest of the games.
The girls team played their hearts out as well finishing at an impressive 3rd place. They nearly made finals but upsettingly just missed out.
Overall both teams done a fantastic job and tried their hardest to bring gold back to the lakes.
Jake C, Year 9.
Both teams showed skill and determination and all of the students who participated in the event showed great sportsmanship and teamwork, it was wonderful to see our young athletes embodying The Lakes’ values.
Congratulations to those students involved and a big thanks to Marc Heenan for coaching the teams.
Year 7 and 8 Volleyball
The year 7 and 8 teams have been training hard for a number of weeks in preparation for their competitions. Due to recent events, interschool competitions have been postponed until further notice. We hope to have these competitions rescheduled later in the year and we look forward to sharing news of the team’s success in the future editions of inspired.
