Fast Track 2020

The first term of 2020, in our Fast Track theory classes we have been learning about the different kinds of barriers that prevent people from being able to do sports, exercises or general activity. The other thing we have been learning about is how much activity is recommended in a week and then analyzing our level of weekly exercise, sports, or activity.  We have also learnt about nutrition and the importance of a balanced diet. During our practical sessions we have been doing fitness testing including, Muscular Endurance, Agility, Cardiovascular tests etc and setting goals and programs to improve our results. We focus a lot on our sports specific goals and how we can improve in our sports, and use some these things in our game sense sessions. We had the opportunity to work on our basketball skills with development coach Warrick Giddey from Melbourne United Basketball Team. Warrick is a former NBL superstar who played 449 games with the Melbourne Tigers. We really enjoyed the session working on skill development and enhancing our knowledge of game strategies and tactics.

On March 4th we had the first Athletics Carnival held at the school on the new sports field and it was a great success. Many students participated and had an awesome time. The students from early years came up and did their events and students in the Fast Track team got to teach the prep to 3 students some fun activities in the gym. All the kids did their very best to earn points towards their house and it was great to be able to demonstrate our leadership skills. We look forward to learning new things and participating in more exciting activities next term.
