Welcome / ようこそ / Benvenuto

We are very excited for the start of the new school year in the Languages Domain.  We are looking forward to extending the world of Japanese and Italian to all language students at the College in 2019.  

We look forward to seeing the girls’ achievements in the Language Perfect World and National Championships, the new friendships made with our visiting Japanese students, the life changing experiences of the Italian Study Tour and the further development of cultural understanding brought about through language learning.

We have high hopes for our senior students and wish them every success in their final year of studying Japanese and Italian at the college.  We encourage all language students to take advantage of the opportunities that are presented to them throughout the year.

Japan Study Tour 2018

During the last two weeks of Term 4 in 2018, 16 students and two teachers headed off on the Japan Study Tour with our guide, Ms Mari Miwa. 

When asked about highlights of the trip, the students identified visiting the Inari Shrine in Kyoto, the Peace Memorial Park and Museum in Hiroshima, having the opportunity to wear a kimono for the day, sightseeing in Harajuku and Shibuya and in Tokyo, experiencing Tokyo Disneyland.

The trip participants were blessed with weather that was much warmer than expected and had the opportunity to see Japan dressed in breathtaking autumn colours.

Throughout the trip the Year 9, 10 and 11 students were exceptional representatives of the College, taking part in all activities, making efforts to use their Japanese language skills and considering others in all situations. 

The students have gained many new insights and understandings of life in Japan and have come back inspired to deepen their knowledge of Japanese and travel again to the Land of the Rising Sun when the opportunity next arises.
