Year 8

For there is still a vision for the appointed time;

 it speaks of the end, and does not lie.

If it seems to tarry, wait for it;

   it will surely come, it will not delay.

Habakkuk 2:3

The Hebrew Scriptures contain many reflections about the significance of time. They tell us there is a time for everything under God, and that there is an appointed time for things; we just need to wait. For the Year 8 girls of Kilbreda they have begun the appointed time at the end of their holidays to begin their journey in 2019. There is always great excitement about new beginnings, for both students and staff. The return to school and the rhythm of school life brings with it a sense of wonder about what might be, and what we might all become.

We began the year on Friday 1 February, with a presentation about cyber bullying by the team from Project Rockit. Project Rockit work with students to help them navigate the world of social media and to respond to any cyber bullying that they may encounter. Their presentation was informative, engaging and very relevant to the lives of young people. One consistent message throughout all of their sessions was to never tolerate cyber bullying and always do something about it. For more information about the work of Project Rockit, see HERE

The focus of the year for Year 8 is Connections – with self, others and the community. Being in a new Homeroom gives students the opportunity to make new connections with other girls and with new students. We especially hope that the six new students in Year 8 will very quickly make connections with others.

Throughout the year, students will be able to make connections with the community via the Foreshore Project and their camp. All of these opportunities are made possible due to the dedication and professionalism of the team of Year 8 Homeroom teachers:

8-47: Penny Golding

8-48: Sue Radford

8-49: Vince Beirne and  Carmel Fraser

8-51: Sonya Hood

8-52: Kylie Carroll

8-60: Lucia Liberatore and Marlene Weberruss

8-61: Adrienne Donoghue

Our hope for 2019 is that all studentsl will embrace the opportunities that they are given and that they will flourish in the appointed time, for it will surely come; it will not delay.
