Mentone Renaissance – Constructions and Bus Diversion Update

As you are aware there are currently changed traffic conditions in Mentone due to construction works on the new public piazza and improved streetscape works in Mentone Parade. The construction works commenced in November 2018 and are expected to be complete by mid 2019.

This next stage of works will also require sections of Mentone Parade (between Como Parade West and Florence Street) to be temporarily closed. Council has been working closely with PTV who have advised that some bus routes will need to be diverted during the works.

North-bound bus routes numbers 903 and 825 will be diverted via Florence and Davies Streets to a new temporary bus stop in front of the businesses at 132-142 Balcombe Road (which are just down from the Woolworths carpark entrance on Balcombe Road).

This temporary bus stop will be in place from 7 January 2019 until the end of March 2019. South-bound routes and stops remain unchanged.

For further updates on any changes to bus routes and timetables please refer to the PTV website HERE.

Dingley Bus - School Special

The Dingley School Special will run from the College once again in 2019.  The departure date for this service has been altered slightly from 2018.

The bus departs opposite the tennis courts on Como Parade West at 3.20pm daily.  Please note, this bus service will not run every second Monday (Day 6) when students are dismissed at 1.45pm.  As such, students will be required to find another mode of transport on this day.

As this is a public bus, students are strongly encouraged to touch on and off with their Myki.

School Photos

Each student received an envelope outlining the payment methods for the school photos.  Please find attached a PDF version if your daughter has misplaced her envelope.

The due date for payment is Thursday 14 February.

Secondary School Vaccinations in 2019

The Secondary School Vaccine Program offers free vaccines to Year 7 and 10 students. These vaccines provide protection against:

  • Diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (whooping cough) – one dose for a Year 7 student
  • Human Papillomavirus (HPV) – two doses for Year 7 students
  • Meningococcal A,C,W,Y – one dose for Year 10 students

Parents/Carers of Year 7 and 10 students should look out for the vaccine consent card booklet coming home from school with your child. You will need to read the information and complete and return the card regardless of whether your child is being vaccinated at school.  These booklets will be handed out prior to your daughter’s vaccination date(s): Tuesday 26 March (Year 7) and  Friday 18 October (Year 7 and 10).

The City of Kingston immunisation service may contact you about the Secondary School Vaccine Program. Schools are authorised to provide basic parent/carer contact details to local councils for this purpose. Please contact the school by 28 February if you do not want your contact details given to the City of Kingston immunisation service.

To learn more about the Secondary School Vaccine Program, the vaccines, the diseases they protect against, or how you can prepare your child for vaccination, see HERE.

Additionally, the Commonwealth Government is funding vaccinations for all children under 20 years of age who missed any scheduled vaccines, including a catch up program for Meningococcal ACWY vaccine for adolescents aged 15-19 years of age who have not already received the vaccine in school. If students have missed vaccines, either in childhood or adolescence, and require catch-up vaccines, they should speak with their immunisation provider (ie. local council or GP).
