Chisholm wins!

Athletics Carnival

I am thrilled to share the exciting news from this week’s Athletics Carnival. The competition was fierce, and the athletes gave their all, resulting in several new school records being set.

Milica Alavanja of Year 7 smashed the 12 year girls high jump record, clearing an impressive 1.37 metres, well over the previous school record of 1.30 metres.

Other notable performances included new records set by the following students in track events:

Overall, it was an incredible day of competition and an opportunity for our students to display their house spirit. In first place we had Chisholm on 699 points, followed closely by Hollows with 667 points in second place.Whitlam finished third with 623 points with Goolagong ending the day on 547 points. Congratulations to all the record breakers, participants and staff for a successful carnival.

Earth Hour 2023

Cecil Hills High School students and staff joined people in over 7000 cities and 190 countries by participating in Earth Hour today. This was an opportunity for staff and students to switch off and connect with nature, each other and the school as a symbolic gesture to show we care about our planet and its future. At our school we believe that every small step towards saving the environment can lead to a significant impact.

Faculties and year groups across the school planned activities to make #TimeOutForNature a success and show our commitment to protecting the environment:

Year 10 students participated in fun and engaging group activities outdoors.
The Support Unit spent the period flying kites, playing traditional games and a ribbon making workshop.
Year 9 PASS and PDHPE students went for a walk around the local lake and made the most of the facilities at the park.
The Social Sciences faculty organised lessons for juniors and seniors that included field sketches, origami and class discussions.
Year 8 students handed in their devices, switched off the lights and worked on group challenges.
The House Leadership Team hosted a 3-Point Contest at lunch to continue with the theme of the day.
