Cecil leads the way

"The only means possible to cultivate the art of leadership is by collaborating, communicating, and cooperating, otherwise known as the ‘three C’s’!"

On 13 March, the Senior Leadership Team hosted the Cecil Hills High School Prefect Afternoon Tea, aimed at expanding our connection and collaboration with schools within the Cowpasture, Fairfield, and Liverpool networks. During our afternoon tea, we coordinated and successfully executed a range of activities such as Charades in a Line, general knowledge trivia, and Musical Chairs, to enhance each leader’s interpersonal skills and adeptness in communicating complex ideas for the betterment of the student agency. Representatives from each school were enthralled by our organisation and innate presence of mind when coordinating each activity and derived an immense amount of inspiration as well as aspirations to conduct a Prefect Afternoon Tea (PAT) of their own!

Throughout the afternoon tea, the biggest highlight expressed by almost all who attended, besides the Subway cookies, was the ease of conveying initiative concepts and ideas with people we had never met before, a testament to the notion of collaboration and its ability to bolster one’s self-confidence in discussing various leadership topics. From delving into conversations on how a Student Representative Council can intensify the multicultural identity of schools, and ultimately bolster the spirit of learning, our PAT undoubtedly enabled all leaders to foster ideas which are innovative, long-lasting, and impactful for not just students, but the wider community. By the end of our afternoon tea, none were keen on leaving due to the pure enjoyment gained from the occasion.

All in all, each school who attended our PAT were captivated by the essence of leadership in allowing one to express their authenticity and reflect the student voice of their respective schools and networks. Whilst enhancing our skills and attributes in leadership, and having an exciting time, each of us were clearly able to harness the ‘three C’s’ and cultivate the art of leadership, to selflessly serve for the uplifting of our schools and society as a whole. The Senior Leadership Team expresses sincere gratitude to all leaders who attended and appreciation for the wisdom endowed by our coordinators, Mrs Kamil, and Ms Tiary, and Head Teacher Wellbeing, Mr Floriano, and Deputy Principal, Mrs Lord to host an event of great significance.
