Attendance Procedure

To help us maintain accurate attendance records and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, we encourage parents/guardians to submit an attendance note when their young person will be absent from school, arriving late, or leaving early.

If you are unable to enter an attendance note in time, please contact the school as soon as possible. A staff member can add the note on your behalf.

Attendance notes provide essential information for staff, indicating when a student will not be on campus. Accurate attendance data supports our duty of care responsibilities during school hours and during school‑approved activities and excursions.

We also encourage parents/guardians to include a brief comment when creating an attendance note. This additional context helps staff understand whether the student will be away for a short or extended period and to understand a further reason for their absence. If you prefer not to include details of the absence on Compass, you are welcome to share the information directly with a relevant staff member instead.

Students who have an attendance note for a partial absence must sign out at the front office before leaving and sign back in upon their return.

Please note: students should not remain on campus during a recorded absence unless they have returned and signed back in.

If a student is on campus but does not feel able to attend class, they are encouraged to visit the Wellbeing Team or their Sub‑School to discuss their concerns.

For any questions about attendance notes, absences, or inconsistencies, please contact our attendance officer, Megan Barton.
