Year 10 High Performance

Over these past 4 weeks our year 10 high performance pe class have been special visitors as coaches at Westgarth primary school. Every Thursday morning we took groups of 8 enthusiastic year 1s and taught them about fundamental movement skills. Fundamental movement skills are basic movement pattern that forms the foundation for more complex and specialized physical activities, sports, and everyday movement. The students were so much fun and a pleasure to coach, we hope they learnt as much as we did! It was an amazing learning experience and we will be sad for it to end.

For the past 4 weeks students from Northcote high school visited Westgarth primary for a sport subject we taught kids from the age 6-7 games like kickball and golden child. The children brought an energy to our class that we weren’t expecting. As it was troublesome to begin with it was really awesome for week two and three. It was an awesome experience and the Westgarth kids were an absolute wonder to teach.

Over the past 4 weeks, we have had the privilege to coach the Westgarth year 1s with helping them learn some fundamental movement skills. This experience helped us develop our teaching, coaching and communication skills. We enjoyed creating connections with the year 1s and seeing how far we have come with our own physical endeavors. We hope that that our group has learnt and enjoyed from us and will continue to enjoy physical activity.
