Sporting achievements!

State Cross-Country
On Thursday 24 July the fantastic weather at Yarra Glen Racecourse created the ideal conditions for our Cross-Country athletes competing at State level. Even qualifying for state is an incredible achievement for our 11 students - requiring them to have placed in the top 10 at 3 previous competitions.
Sienna M in Year 9 (pictured in the header image above) walked away as State Champion after coming 1st in the Under 14 girls 3km race, outpacing second place by a full 20 seconds!
Our Under 14 girls team, comprised of Sienna, Katie H, Zi L and Claire M, were awarded third place in the team's version of the competition.
Amazing results from our state finalists include:
Aurelia S - 59th in the Under 12/13 girls 3km
Jeremy Z - 36th and Finn P - 34th in the Under 14 Boys 3km
Celeste J - 65th in the Under 15 girls 3km
Flynn M - 64th in the Under 16 Boys 3km
Josette T - 50th in the Under 17-20 Girls 3km
William L - 36th in the Under 17-20 boys 5km
Fantastic work to all our athletes on their exceptional performance representing Box Hill at the highest level of school sport!
Gymnastics gold!
One of our Year 12 students, Clare R, recently represented Victoria at the Border Challenge Gymnastics Competition in Queensland.
She has worked very hard to get to the competition after overcoming a fractured/dislocated elbow. We are delighted to hear she won a gold medal for her floor routine!
Congratulations Clare!
Year 7 Boys Soccer
On 24 June, the boys’ team started off the day playing against East Doncaster. It was a close match but in the end our team won 2-1. The second match was played against Blackburn. We showed them what we were made of with a crazy 5-0 victory. Finally, our game against Koonung was a decider. It was close in the first half but our students pulled through and made the win a comfortable 4-0. All the boys played exceptionally but the four who outshone the competition were Cassius B, Luka D, Jacob D and Gabriel O. They showed exceptional skills and proved themselves when it was needed most. Overall, the team played wonderfully and deserved to make it to the next round.
Year 7 Girls Soccer
In their first game, the girls’ team showed a masterclass display against East Doncaster. The amazing quality of the attack secured a 3-0 win for the girls, a fabulous start.
The second game was a clinic, with our team winning 9-1 over Blackburn.
The third game was the most important of the day, and the team pulled through and won 3-2 against Koonung. They showed amazing effort and sportsmanship. Huge congratulations to the girls who qualified for regionals on 11 August!
Year 7 Badminton
On 24 June, Year 7 students represented Box Hill High School at the 2025 Whitehorse Division Junior Badminton competition. BHHS competed against Blackburn High School, East Doncaster Secondary College and Koonung Secondary College. Each student tried their best and demonstrated great sportsmanship.
Junior Girls AFL
Our Year 7 Girls A team consisting of Summer A, Angela W, Sarah N, Elyse K and Sarah X won each of their matches, showcasing great skill and focus. Our Year 9 student coaches Ava A, Elly W, Micah G and Adrian K were all a great help in scoring and running the events.
Senior and Intermediate Girls AFL
A sunny winter’s day out at Elgar Park for the Senior/Inter Girls AFL competition. Unfortunately, our teams were outclassed, although both games against Blackburn came down to the wire. Best players for the day were:
Seniors – Jemima, Lyla, Samira, Katrina and Olivia.
Inters – Jorja, Jess, Akshara, Bella, Annabelle and Sienna.
