Reconciliation at BHHS

by Ms Gemma Anderson, Student Wellbeing Leader (Acting)

Box Hill High School has formalised its commitment to reconciliation by developing a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). This plan documents the long-term vision we hold for reconciliation at BHHS and the actions we will take to work towards this.

Our school has a strong commitment for deepening our community's understanding of First Nations perspectives and we want to foster the strengths this shared cultural knowledge brings for our students and staff.

We have undertaken many actions over the past three years including the development of our own Acknowledgement of Country, built a tradition of celebrations of significant days and creating our Yarning Circle and garden.

Later this year, our teaching staff will work to document the opportunities we already provide students to learn about First Nations histories, culture, practices and perspectives. This will allow us to identify further opportunities to work towards our goal of developing a deep understanding.

The RAP will be published shortly on our school website.
