The Foundation students learnt about the 'Timbre' (sound quality) produced by a Tambourine and discussed how we play this instrument. After forming a circle, students focused on stepping and playing to beat using a tambourine.
The Grade 1 students have looked at one beat notes and rests in songs and performed dance actions to reinforce their knowledge.
Students will then play an untuned percussion instrument for a Beet and Shh Sentence with a steady beat:
So impressive to see a Year 1 student playing the Good Morning song as she learns keyboard at home!
The Grade 2 students enjoyed learning the dance actions to an old classic dance called 'Agadoo.' We have learnt about different fruit and vegetable notes but it will be fun learning about the pineapple note so this was a great chance to dance to this funny, spikey fruit!
It was wonderful to see students dancing in unison, using the same direction for their hand and step movements. Loved it Year 2's!
The Grade 3 students learnt an action song from Ghana, 'Che Che Koolay.' It teaches children about body parts similar to the song, 'Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.' To make it more textured, students playing tuned and untuned percussion instruments with different melodic patterns (Ostinatos) to accompany the song.
It was a challenge but the students achieved this tricky task of playing, singing and performing body movements. Great work Year 3'!
