Grade 1 News

Welcome to Week 6!
We have a busy and exciting two weeks learning and lots more to come!
In Literacy, students have been enjoying lots of word work and hands-on activities. They have been manipulating words by building, breaking apart, and rearranging sounds and letters to strengthen their reading and spelling skills. It has been wonderful to see their confidence growing as they explore new words.
In Maths, we are focusing on Place Value and comparing and ordering numbers. Students have been working with MABs and other hands-on materials to partition numbers and deepen their understanding of tens and ones. Using concrete materials has helped students clearly see how numbers are made and how they relate to each other.
In Religion, we are beginning our new unit on Lent and Easter. Students will explore the meaning of Lent and learn about the significance of Easter. We look forward to thoughtful discussions and meaningful learning during this special time.
Tomorrow is Crazy Hair Day!
We are so excited to see all the wonderful and creative hairstyles. It is sure to be a fun day for everyone!
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to another fantastic two weeks of learning.
Kind regards,
The Grade 1 Team
