Grade 6 News

We are now over halfway through the term, and it has been wonderful to see the continued effort and focus from our Year 6 students. They are working hard and showing great maturity as the year progresses.
Grade 6 Leadership Day – Galen Thursday this week we will be attending our Grade 6 Leadership Day at Galen Catholic College. We will be walking across to Galen for the day. Lunch will be provided. It will be a fantastic opportunity for our students to build leadership skills, confidence and teamwork.
Home Reading, Please continue to encourage regular home reading. Consistency makes such a difference. A big well done to those students who have already reached over 25 nights of reading — that is an excellent achievement so early in the term!
Mathematics This week we are beginning our unit on Order of Operations. Students will be learning how to correctly solve number sentences using the correct sequence (brackets, multiplication and division, addition and subtraction). We will be practising this skill regularly to build confidence and accuracy.
Writing & Reading We are finishing our persuasive writing pieces on the benefits of knowing your family history. This has been inspired by our class novel, The Ghost in My Suitcase, which we are also coming to the end of. Students have enjoyed making connections between the novel and their own families while strengthening their persuasive techniques.
Thank you for your continued support at home. We are proud of the way our Year 6 students are applying themselves and showing leadership within the school.
