Grade 2 News

Welcome to Week 6!
In Literacy, we continue to work on a range of tricky words. Students have been practising reading, spelling and using these words in their writing. Be sure to ask your child about our tricky words at home and see how many they can read and spell for you!
We are also continuing to build our reading comprehension skills. Students are learning to think carefully about what they read by answering questions, retelling key events, and identifying important details in a text. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they share their thinking and make connections to their own experiences.
In writing, we are focusing on forming correct sentence structures and adding plenty of description to make our writing more interesting. Students are learning to use punctuation correctly, write complete sentences, and expand their ideas with describing words. We are encouraging them to “paint a picture with their words” so their readers can clearly imagine what is happening.
In Maths, our focus has been on telling the time, understanding clockwise and anticlockwise direction, and learning how to use calendars. Students have been exploring analogue clocks, identifying o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to times.
Kind regards,
The Grade 2 Team
