Grade 4 News

Welcome to Week 6!

In Literacy, we are reaching the end of our class novel, Kensuke's Kingdom. Students have thoroughly enjoyed following Michael’s adventure and exploring the important themes of friendship, survival and respect for nature. In writing, we are focussing on persuasive texts, with a special emphasis on protecting our forests. Students are learning to clearly state their opinion, support it with strong reasons, and use persuasive language to convince their audience. You might like to ask your child what they would say to encourage others to protect the rainforest!

In Maths, we are finishing our Fractions unit and beginning our new topic on Time.

In Religion, we have been learning about parables — the special stories Jesus told to teach important lessons. Students are exploring the meaning behind these stories and reflecting on how the messages apply to their own lives.

As part of our RRRR (Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships) learning, we are focussing on coping strategies. We encourage you to continue these conversations at home and practise these strategies together.

We are looking forward to seeing some wonderfully creative hairstyles this Wednesday for Crazy Hair Day as we raise money for Caritas.

Please ensure your child is reading most nights at home and retelling the story to support their comprehension.

Thank you for your continued support.
