ALUMNI News

We look forward to welcoming past student and brandsmith, Amey Lee, in the last week of Term 2, with a raft of alumni career pathways sessions lined up for Term 3. These sessions provide students with the benefit of relatable insight into a wide range of possible career trajectories.

Amey Lee is a brandsmith, brand story strategist, content specialist and writer. She graduated from Frankston High School in 1999 and achieved her Bachelor of Arts, Communications (Media Studies) with Honours from RMIT. After founding and running her own film and television production company, Amey went to London where she worked for the BBC. Upon returning to Australia, she attended the Australian School of Copywriting, and worked in advertising and digital media and marketing before establishing her current business, Heart Content, in 2014.  Heart Content is a Melbourne based brand and content agency helping businesses find their brand story and then tell it in a way that wins their customer's heart.

Amey’s session with English Literature and Writers Club students will aim to introduce students who are active and passionate about the written word to careers in the world of branding, advertising and copywriting. They will learn what types of jobs there are in these areas of writing these days and the impact of AI. They will also hear about what it is that makes a good writer, the benefits of practice and being able to take feedback constructively.  Amey Lee will also address the importance of planning and having a strategy at the outset of any writing task and will lead students through a practical writing exercise as part of the session.

TERM 3

In Term 3, alumni from a range of industries are lined up to speak to Vocational Major, Advanced Maths, Sports Leadership, Science and Voice and Agency students about their diverse career journeys.

ABOUT THE ALUMNI PROGRAM

Our School is a not-for-profit service, and the only service in Australia devoted solely to helping public high schools build supportive alumni communities. Why? Because alumni can be inspirational, relatable career role models for current students. To learn more about OurSchool, go to ourschool.net.au

Alumni can give back to their old school in so many ways that benefit current students; either via inspirational career pathway advice, industry insights, post Year 12 study insights, study tips and techniques, work experience opportunities, donations to assist with school programs and more. The opportunities for involvement are endless.
