Dear Parents/Carers, Students And Friends

Marrung Scholarship

On Friday 24 May, I attended the Victorian Government/Department of Education Marrung Scholarship Ceremony in the city to recognise and celebrate Caiden Wright of Year 11, who has been awarded one of 30 scholarships across Victoria. It was a real privilege for Andrew to be there with Caiden and his mother Simone, to meet and hear from Aunty Geraldine Atkinson, and the Deputy Premier and Minister for Education, the Honourable Ben Carroll, and to acknowledge all of these students.

The Marrung Education Scholarship program provides scholarships to support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students in Victorian government schools to complete senior secondary education. The scholarships recognise students who demonstrate a high potential to succeed in their chosen pathway and commitment to education. Thank you to Ms Paige Jessulat for her efforts and support of Caiden and in nominating him for the scholarship.

Reconciliation Week

Thank you to Mr John Russell for his efforts organising our acknowledgement of Reconciliation Week and educating others in learning more about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

There have been many moments in Australia’s reconciliation journey that make us want to turn away. But when things are divisive, the worst thing we can do is disengage or disconnect. National Reconciliation Week’s theme for 2024, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people must continue.

SHARK TANK | Future Frankston Policy Proposal

Congratulations to our team of students who on Friday 7 June participated in and won the second Shark Tank event run at McClelland College by our State Member for Parliament, Mr Paul Edbrooke.
