ASSESSMENT and Reporting

This year, Frankston High School has transitioned to a continuous reporting model to support student learning by providing constructive, supportive, and timely feedback to students and parents/carers. Students have greater capacity to engage in their learning by applying the suggested strategies for further development during the semester.

Please see the attached guide for further information about our assessment processes. Please spend some time reviewing your child’s Semester 1 Report when it is published at the start of Term 3. You can find further feedback about each assessment through the Learning Tasks module in Compass.

After reading the report with your child, we encourage you to engage in a conversation to celebrate successes and identify areas for growth, considering what steps could be taken to work towards improvement. The aggregation of small, actionable steps can amount to massive progress over time (see the work of James Clear for more on this). If, from your discussion, your child can commit to one action they will take, they can start Semester 2 with a clear focus. Actions could include:

  • Asking one question in class per week
  • Reading for 10 minutes each night
  • Spending 5 minutes each night writing the following day’s classes in the student diary and checking for upcoming assessments
  • Choosing a club (e.g. Academic Catch-Up Club, Semper Squad) to attend in Term 3
