SHARK TANK

SHARK TANK | FUTURE FRANKSTON POLICY PROPOSAL

On Friday 7 June, Archie Frew (Year 7), Eliza Patson (Year 10), Sophie Easterbrooke (Year 9) and I participated in the Shark Tank Style Policy Pitch at McClelland College. The event is held to give young people a voice in the community, and speak to local representatives about the changes that they wish to see in a ‘shark tank’ style pitch.

The pitches were presented to a panel of Paul Edbrooke MP, Jodie Belyea MP, and Councillor Sue Baker. Our pitchy was centred around the Solar Schools Initiative, which aimed to address the funding shortfalls that 98% of public schools in Victoria experience, as well as assisting the state government to meet their climate targets by expanding sustainable energy systems throughout Victoria.

Our pitch addressed the:

'Why this was an important change to implement in Victoria'
'How the government could rollout this initiative' and
'The specifics for a funding model that used Frankston High School as a case study'

It was a really incredibly opportunity to participate in this day, and we loved hearing the pitches of the other schools. Excitingly our pitch was successful and we ended up winning the competition, ending the day by coming home with a trophy!
