441 Murray St Update
Progress report from Mrs Campbell
It is full steam ahead for our Semester Two move to 441 Murray Street. The company Built is currently completing their final building works and aims to have these done by mid-April. There is then an upgrade of our power board required by Western Power before the building will be ready for our occupancy towards the end of Term Two.
The new building will see us move out of 10 William Street (aka CQU) and operate across both 50 William Street and 441 Murray Street. The walking route between the two sites for students and staff alike will be to cross at the pedestrian lights at Hay Street to Milligan Street, turn right and then right again into Murray Street. We have trialled the route at various times of the school day, and it is a six-minute walk from the main school building.
441 Murray Street will be operational from the start of Term Three 2025. It will be used by all students across Years 7 – 12. It will include five bespoke Science Laboratories, two large Dance and Drama Studios, a Music Recording Studio, Music Practice Rooms and two Music Classrooms. We will have a floor of Maths Classrooms, all with writeable desks and smart boards. There will be a Food Technology Classroom with this being offered as both an elective and co-curricular opportunity from Term Three onwards. There will also be a fully functioning canteen area with an outside courtyard, a Year 12 Common Room and a variety of different outdoor areas for students.
