EAL with Mrs Scopas

Term 2 - EAL Learning Update

The first five weeks of this term have been highly productive, with students demonstrating excellent effort and enthusiasm in developing their English language skills across Speaking and Listening, Reading and Viewing, and Writing.

In Years 1 and 2, students have been focusing on developing their phonics knowledge, including beginning sounds, digraphs and consonant blends. Through engaging reading activities, students have been identifying and practising targeted sounds to strengthen their reading fluency and decoding skills.

Students in Years 3 to 6 have completed holiday recount writing tasks and have been building their understanding of parts of speech, including nouns, verbs and adjectives. Students also recently completed speaking assessments, and it has been wonderful to observe the significant growth in their pronunciation, vocabulary and confidence when speaking English.

We encourage all students to continue engaging with English language texts at home to help consolidate and extend their learning.
