Captains Corner

In the past few weeks we have had a lot in our schedule at school. So much has happened that we can’t even comprehend. Congratulations to the top three runners in cross country who received ribbons last week. Well done DPS! Now 120 students are going to district cross country, 10 from each age group. In week 2, the grade 6’s went to Canberra Camp. For some students it was the highlight of primary school or one of the highlights. Personally my favourite part was iPlay, an arcade with lots of games and fun activities for free. It feels like that was only yesterday. Well Done Doncaster for organising the DPS Biggest Afternoon Tea that sold cupcakes, brownies and more. In week 9 grade 6 also has interschool sports. Let’s go Doncaster. We are officially halfway through term 2 and so much has happened throughout the year. Keep working hard!

This year, the year sixes have been doing exciting activities together enjoying their last year at Doncaster Primary School making it the best one yet. Doing things such as doing interschool sports, Cross country, playing with the preps, flying to Canberra from Melbourne and going to places such as Questecon, Geo Science, Portrait Gallery, going to the Australian Institute of Sport and way more! And most of all spending quality time together with peers. Flying with my best friends and other classmates was definitely a key memory in year six that I will never forget. Interschool sport is another memory that I will never forget as the year sixes play against other schools and enjoy their favourite sport while having fun at the same time. Year Six has been an amazing time and I am grateful for all these special activities DPS has provided for us.

Over the past few weeks, there have been so many exciting events happening at DPS. One experience that really stood out to me was attending the ANZAC Day ceremony at the local RSL. It was a very special experience and I felt grateful to the RSL for providing food and drinks for everyone who attended. It was also really interesting hearing the New Zealand national anthem and meeting our local MP, Gabriel Ng. Another highlight this term was Canberra Camp. Spending time with friends and having our own room together made camp even more enjoyable and created lots of fun memories. Year 6 has already been full of amazing experiences and I'm very thankful for all the experiences we have had and will still have.

This term has been full of meaningful experiences. One experience that had a big impact on me was attending the ANZAC Day ceremony at the local RSL. The ceremony helped me better appreciate the sacrifices soldiers made for our country and the importance of remembering them. I am also very grateful to the RSL for all the effort they put into hosting us and for kindly providing snacks and drinks for everyone. Another highlight this term was Canberra Camp. I really enjoyed exploring all the different places we visited and making lasting memories with my friends. This term has been full of great activities and I look forward to enjoying the rest of the year.
