Level Four

This term, Level 4 students have been busy building their skills across all learning areas.
READING
In Reading, we have been focusing on the strategy of monitoring. Students have been learning how good readers stop and think while they read, check for understanding, and use strategies to help when meaning breaks down. We have also begun reading our exciting class novel, Adventure Club: The Red Panda Rescue by Jess Butterworth. Students have been exploring the diary entries and story of Tilly, a school girl who signs up for an adventure trip to Nepal to help save endangered red pandas. We are enjoying learning about the characters, setting, and themes of adventure, courage, and conservation.
WRITING
In Writing, students have been learning about persuasive advertisements, and the different persuasive devices authors use to engage and convince their audience. Working collaboratively in pairs and small groups, students have been designing their own products and creating advertisements using persuasive language, catchy slogans, strong vocabulary, and eye-catching features to persuade others to agree with them.
MATHS
In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of fractions. Students have explored improper fractions, mixed numerals, and how to find fractions of a set. Through hands-on activities, and problem-solving tasks, students have been building confidence in recognising and applying fraction concepts in different ways.
THEME
In Theme, students have dived into learning about countries, continents, natural wonders of the world, and animal adaptations. Students have enjoyed discovering how animals adapt to survive in different environments and exploring some of the amazing natural features found across our planet.
We are so proud of the hard work and effort shown by all of our Level 4 students this term!
