Level Two

Level Two have settled into Term Two extremely well. Some highlights of the term have been Cross Country and Education Week. The students showed great sportsmanship, enthusiasm and encouragement towards one another during these events. Students also created beautiful cards for their mothers for Mother's Day.

It has been wonderful to see their confidence and teamwork continue to grow throughout the term. We are very proud of the positive attitude and effort the students have demonstrated in all areas of their learning. 

Students have also worked hard during class time. In Phonics, students have been learning digraphs and trigraphs as well as exploring two, three and four syllable words. A highlight during Phonics has been completing a daily review of the sounds learnt throughout the semester. 

In Writing, students have been developing their narrative writing by adding more detail and incorporating Tier 2 and Tier 3 vocabulary into their work. This week, students are creating their speeches for the Public Speaking Competition. In Week 6, they will practise reading their speeches at home ready for the class competition in Week 7 and level competition in Week 8.

In Maths, place value and measurement have been key focus areas. Students have particularly enjoyed measuring the length and mass of classroom items using balancing scales and informal units. 

In Theme, students are learning about the history unit, Journeys in the Past and in the coming weeks will be developing their own board game related to the unit.
