Level Three

Term 2
It has been wonderful to see students showing increased confidence, teamwork and resilience both inside and outside the classroom this term. Events such as Cross Country and Education Week provided fantastic opportunities for students to encourage one another, display excellent sportsmanship and celebrate our school community together.
In Literacy, students have been studying the text Brindabella and have been exploring how authors use descriptive language to create vivid images for the reader. Students have been developing their ability to use stronger vocabulary, sensory details and more engaging descriptions within their own writing.
This week, students have also begun working on speeches in preparation for our upcoming Public Speaking Competition. Students are encouraged to practice their speech at home using the below structure.
In Numeracy, students recently completed a unit on fractions where they explored halves, quarters and equivalent fractions through a variety of hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks. Students have also been focusing on measurement concepts, including length, mass and capacity. Below you can see a hands on session where students measured their feet using alternative materials. We are now beginning a new unit on multiplication and division, where students are building their understanding of number patterns, groups and strategies to solve mathematical problems.
In Theme, students are learning about Australia and its neighbouring countries. They have been exploring geographical features, cultures and important landmarks across the region. This learning has connected closely with our ICT lessons, where students are designing their own travel apps to support tourists travelling around Australia and nearby countries. Students have enjoyed combining creativity, technology and research skills to develop their ideas.
We are very proud of the enthusiasm and effort students have shown throughout the term and thank families for their ongoing support. We look forward to another exciting semester of learning ahead.
