Mental Health and Wellbeing

Congratulations to our DPS students on a successful start to Term 2. It really is wonderful to walk around our school and be greeted by such friendly hello from our students.

Respectful Relationships-

Our students have explored two units this term so far:

        Personal Strengths

  • Discussed personal strengths and how individual strengths can contribute positively when cooperating in a group.
  • Explored ways to use strengths to support teamwork, communication, and respectful relationships.

    Positive Coping Strategies

  • Reflected on setting goals and working hard to achieve them through persistence and effort.
  • Focused on positive coping strategies and ways to manage challenges effectively.
  • Discussed the importance of staying positive and resilient in challenging situations.

Wellbeing:

At DPS, wellbeing is not taught in isolation but is embedded across all areas of learning.

For example, persistence can be linked to persevering with a difficult Maths task, while empathy can be connected to understanding a character’s feelings and experiences in a text.

Recently, our students competed in Cross Country, where they practised using positive self-talk before and during the event to build confidence and resilience. Here are some comments students shared:

'I can do this. No matter what place I come, the winners are the people who showed up' Anna 6K

'Just keep going even when it is hard. Don't worry about the people in front of you and behind you. Just try your best' Mietta 6K

'I can do it' Sua PC

'It's not about winning. It's about trying my best'. Christina 2M

Similarly, our Grade 6 students participated in interschool sport. Following the event, each student was given the opportunity to reflect on the ways they demonstrated our school values and the expectations of School Wide Positive Behaviour

TRIBES- International Day of Families took place on Friday, May 15, 2026. In TRIBES our students celebrated the important people in their families. They reflected on the many ways family members show love, care, encouragement, and support each day. It was wonderful to see students share with pride and appreciation while recognising that every family is unique and special. A big thank you to our fantastic families for the way your support our students. We appreciate you!
