Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Friends of DPS
We have had a great start to Term with many exciting things happening across the entire school. Throughout the Term, our student leaders have been sharing our weekly focus for School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS). This term, we have had a clear focus on students wearing their uniform with pride, with students receiving hole-punches for demonstrating this. The DPS uniform builds pride in school and a sense of belonging.
On Thursday 23 April, a group of Level 6 students led by Mrs Keen attended the Templestowe ANZAC service for schools. This was a moving experience for the students and staff who attended. On Friday 24 April we held the annual school ANZAC service which was a special morning for the community. Again, it was great to see so many families attending. Thank you to Mrs Coumaros, Mrs Keen and Wendy M who did a fantastic job in organising the day.
Year 6 students attended Canberra Camp in Week 2 led by Mrs Corfios and Mrs Keen, ably supported by Miss Redfern, Miss Holzer, Mrs Hill, Mrs Hamilton, Mr Spinks and Mr Johnson. The students had an incredible experience in what was a jam-packed week. Camp is always a rewarding experience for both students and staff, and I’d like to acknowledge the commitment of all who attend camps in stepping away from their families and friends to provide this opportunity for our students.
A huge thanks to the Parents and Friends Group who ran a very successful Mother's Day stall, we hope all Mums and special friends enjoyed Mother's Day and enjoyed their special gifts. As announced at Assembly last week, the next PFG event will be a movie night at Village Cinemas. It is important to note that all children attending this event must be accompanied by an adult. More information to come out on Compass.
Semester Reports:
We will be providing student achievement reports for Semester One this year as usual.
The reports will continue to provide important details about student learning attainment, but full descriptive comments may not be included as a result of industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union.
We will of course be pleased to discuss with you your child’s progress at the Student-led Conferences scheduled for Tuesday 23 June.
I look forward to seeing lots of parents at the Open Classrooms this afternoon and hope you enjoy seeing the amazing learning that your children experience everyday at DPS.
Determination Pride Success
Jarod Ryan
Principal
