Year 10 Subject Selections

I will soon start meeting with all Year 10 students and their parents/guardians to commence the VCE subject selection process. All meeting requests have been sent out over the past week, so please look out for the invitation in your inbox. These meetings are an excellent opportunity to begin discussions about the students’ interests and aptitudes based on their Morrisby Profile, and investigate any career and pathway ideas that students have at this early stage. There are lots of resources available to families to assist with this process on the HT Connect Careers and Pathways Page.

Last week, I was able to spend time with the Year 9 and Year 11 students during their activities week. The Year 9 students worked on career action plans, which helped them start to think about their post-school options and what sorts of things they can be doing now to help them reach their goals. The Year 11 students spent a day at Deakin and Monash Universities. This involved tours of the Burwood campus of Deakin University and the Clayton campus of Monash University, general presentations regarding the universities and the courses offered and Q&A sessions. Hopefully the day gave students a better idea of what university life is like, and enabled them to start to see what they need and want out of a tertiary institution.

Following activities week, if any student would like to discuss anything further, they are most welcome to book in for a chat with me.
