A message from the Friends of St George's . . .

One of our popular school initiatives from 2025 was the launch of Friends of St George’s. We are proud to continue to grow our FOSG community in 2026. With the mantra of ‘friendraising, not fundraising’, Friends of St George’s is an important link between the school and our families, and we are excited to be calling for expressions of interest from those keen to join the ranks, especially as potential Year Group Representatives, in 2026.

Below, FOSG Co-ordinator, Mrs Tash Coombs, tells you everything you need to know . . .

Are you a parent who loves connecting with others, building community, and getting involved in school life—without signing up for a second full‑time job? Then the Friends of St George’s wants YOU for our 2026 Committee!

What’s Involved?

Not much … but also everything that matters.

  • Four x 60 minutes (1 hour) meetings a year. Yes, four. That’s a quarterly catch‑up with purpose.
  • Helping organise year‑group community events—the kind that get families together, create memories, and give everyone something to look forward to.
  • Loads of help—no one is left flying solo. We’re a “many hands make light work… and funnier stories” kind of committee.

Speaking of Stories…

Remember the Year 11 & 12 barefoot bowling event?  The one that was going ahead come rain or shine? Well… it definitely came rain. But did that stop us? Not a chance. Parents bowled. Students bowled. Everyone slipped at least once. The grass squelched, spirits soared, and the event was a soggy, hilarious, unforgettable success. That’s the magic of Friends of St George’s—no matter the weather, the show goes on … usually with snacks.

Help shape the fun (and the funding provided)

Committee members also get to vote on how we invest community‑raised funds. In 2025, for example, we approved specialised interschool uniforms that made our students feel proud and polished.

It’s your chance to help decide what meaningful projects we support next.

Why Join?

If you enjoy:

Meeting lovely school families

Feeling part of something bigger

Making fun things happen

Making a positive difference to St George’s

Only four meetings a year

And the occasional weather‑related adventure … then you’ll fit right in.

Keen to Get Involved?

Submit your Expression of Interest and help us make 2026 full of connection, community—and maybe slightly less rain.
