House pride is school-wide

It has been an absolute delight for me to be back on campus and witnessing first-hand the many friendships being formed across year groups and within the four different House groups. Cowan House Charity Day was a fabulous occasion for Cowan House to shine and showcase their strengths as our new house of blue. The various water-based activities coupled with the newly created ‘Chant Off’ Competition led us happily into the much-anticipated long weekend. Congratulations to Lincoln House for taking out the inaugural ‘Chant Off’. This was an idea that came from the Heads of House and is a wonderful new activity for our Interhouse challenges, providing an opportunity for chants to be created by the House Captains and House Prefects in the lead up to the Interhouse Swimming Carnival – the first interhouse event in the school calendar each year.

The Interhouse Swimming Carnival saw our students enjoy the shade provided by the new House Marquees and a chance for everyone to escape the heat through the variety of novelty races held in the small pool. The pool itself saw several great swims by our talented swimmers, and we eagerly await the final carnival result which will be announced alongside the 2026 ACC Swim Team in Chapel next week. For your diaries the ACC C Division Swimming Carnival takes place on Tuesday 24 March (T1W9).

Congratulations to Cowan House for winning Sync Swim – a great start for our newest

House as they strive to get their name on the 2026 House Cup. A reminder to all students that everyone contributes to this cup as all House tokens for commendations, good deeds, big efforts and personal bests go towards the final House Cup calculations prior to it being presented at Presentation Night at the end of the 2026 school year

There are also Principal Tokens which count for 10 tokens each, so as I walk through the school seeing good deeds, I might just stop and issue a token. With only 20 Principal Tokens available each term, I am on the lookout for students being exceptional whenever I see them! A challenge has been set!

Heading into NAPLAN for our Year 7 and 9 students next week, I wish everyone all the very best as they sit these national tests. No revision is needed, just a focused approach during the testing session and a chance to showcase what you know. All absences during NAPLAN need to come to student reception first thing in the morning so that we can organise catch-up sessions where this is possible. If you have any questions regarding NAPLAN, please do reach out to Mrs Sharan Tagore, Associate Dean of Teaching & Learning via SEQTA.

We will say a fond farewell to Father Gift at the student-led chapel services on Monday and Thursday to conclude the term in Week 9. Our 2026 Chapel Captain, Miss Cate Williams, will lead both of these services. There will be limited seating in the south transept for any families or grammarians wishing to attend to say farewell to Father Gift as he leaves us at the end of this term.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,
