With our Heads of House

What a first six weeks it has been for Cowan House. We have made our name and voice heard across the school, and it has been fantastic to see blue on the rise.
Our inaugural Cowan House Charity Day was a huge success. A mix of aqua carnival games kept things cool on a warm day, but the highlight was our first ever Chant Off, creating an atmosphere like no other. Congratulations to Lincoln House, our 2026 Chant Champions, with Cowan and Gandhi sharing second place and Mandela rounding out the four Houses. Thank you to every student who participated, purchased a zooper dooper or supported our first Cowan Ultimate Prize Pack Raffle. Winners will be announced soon.

We are incredibly proud to have raised over $1000 for the Back on Track Foundation, supporting children and families impacted by cancer. Well done and thank you to everyone who donated to this worthy cause.
This week brought the Interhouse Swimming Carnival and what a day it was - WE WON SYNC SWIM. And hearing a Year 7 student say, “I didn’t expect I’d want to swim this many races,” perfectly captured the culture we are building in Cowan House. Thank you to every student who showed up and represented the House. And winning the Sync Swim performance, led by Zara Jones, was a standout moment. The energy, commitment and number of Cowan students willing to step into the water showed exactly what this House is about. In our first competitive House event, to take the win felt like a fairytale start. Well done Cowan House – we are here to make our mark!
“So where have we been?” (Sync Swim Quote), the answer is clear. We’re here now.

It has been a busy couple of weeks for students of Gandhi House! In Week 4, Gandhi students brought outstanding House Spirit to our House Week activities, where they showcased their talents with the lunchtime tennis-ball toss and sudoku competitions.

Gandhi students continued to bring their House Spirit to the Interhouse Swimming Carnival, which took place on Wednesday, 6 March. There was fantastic participation from Gandhi students across all year groups in both the races and novelty events on the day. The sea of red accessories which took over the Gandhi House Bay was an excellent reflection of sportsmanship and strong House Spirit. Additionally, Gandhi students embraced the Under the Sea theme of the Sync Swim Routine and performed the dance with pride. A massive thank you to our incredible Gandhi Sync Swim Leaders, Jade Fletcher (Gandhi House Captain) and Anouk Potter (Sports Captain), as well as their wider leadership team of students in Years 8-11 for their dedication and guidance over the last four months of practice.
We can now focus in on our next events, Interhouse Cross Country and the Interhouse Performing Arts Festival, which are both held in Week 2 of Term 2. We have commenced rehearsals for our Interhouse Dance performance and Interhouse Drama competition, and I thank our Performance Captain, Juliette Andrews, and our School Captain, Sophie Gardiner, for their leadership in this space. Semester One is certainly busy with many House events, so I encourage all students to get involved! Go Gandhi!

It has been a great start to the year for Lincoln House! As always, our last few weeks have been full of fun events for the students to compete in, including House Week, Cowan Charity Day and of course the Interhouse Swimming Carnival and Sync Swim earlier this week.
Raising House spirit has been a key focus for the House these last few years and to see our students rise to the occasion and show their spirit during Cowan Charity Day’s inaugural House Chant Off Competition, was truly wonderful. We were not only the winning House Chant, but also the loudest House, showing that when we all come together with a single goal in mind, we can achieve amazing things.

This continued into the Sync Swim this week, where we saw our students bust a move in the pool to clinch a close second place to Cowan House. The House was more in sync than ever with their moves, and it was so pleasing to see all students and staff members who got in the water and be involved in the event. Thank you to everyone for demonstrating that Lincoln House spirit. Admittedly, participation in the water, was a little low in the morning, but as the day and competition started to heat up throughout the day, we began to see more and more students enter races. Our next big event will be the Interhouse Cross Country, early in Term Two. As the current champions of the event, I ask that you encourage your fellow Lincoln students and PCG members to attend the event on the day and to even consider some training. That way, we will keep up our awesome House spirit and ensure that we keep the shield for another year!

It has been another fantastic week in the House, highlighted by the 2026 Interhouse Swimming Carnival. Our students represented us with pride, enthusiasm and outstanding participation across all events, including the always-entertaining Sync Swim competition. It was terrific to see so many students getting involved, supporting one another and embracing the House spirit throughout the day. A special congratulations to our Year 12 leaders, who led superbly from start to finish and made the most of their final swimming carnival. Official results will be announced early next week, stay tuned!

Our Glee preparations are now well and truly underway. It has been brilliant to see students giving up their time before school to rehearse, showing real commitment and energy as we plan and prepare what will be an awesome performance. Practices will continue right up until the competition in Term 2, Week 2. Students who nominated for the Drama competition will be contacted shortly to begin rehearsals. A huge thank you to our student leaders who have taken the initiative to create, organise and run these practices, your leadership is greatly appreciated.
The Mandela Quiz is also heating up, with PCGs performing strongly. With just four weeks remaining, now is the time to support your PCG, contribute where you can and aim for the best possible score. Let’s keep the momentum going.
