Stage Combat and Clowning Around
Aside from all the excitement of after-school rehearsals for our production of Mamma Mia!, the past few weeks have been buzzing in the Drama Department - with students across multiple year levels diving into creative and practical experiences.
Year 11 Drama Day

Our Year 11 Drama students recently attended the Year 11 Drama Day at Penrhos College, where they participated in four dynamic workshops designed to extend their performance and rehearsal processes. These sessions explored techniques directly applicable to both APEx and ATAR Drama, giving students valuable insights into devising, physical theatre, and refining their practical work. It was a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with other drama students and develop new creative tools for their upcoming performances.
Year 7s and 8s – Clowning around

Meanwhile, our Year 7 and Year 8 Drama classes have been busy clowning around in the best possible way! As part of their first six-week rotation, students have been exploring the world of clowning, physical comedy, and character development. Alongside practical performance work, students have also been designing their own personalised clown costumes, bringing their unique clown personas to life with creativity and flair.
Year 9 – Stage Combat

Our Year 9 Drama students were thrilled to welcome Stage Combat Perth back for our annual Stage Combat Workshop. Students learned the fundamentals of safe and effective stage fighting techniques, including choreographed combat sequences that combine performance skill with precision and teamwork. It was an action-packed session that challenged students physically while reinforcing the importance of trust and safety in performance.
The Drama Department is incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, creativity, and courage our students continue to demonstrate in their learning. We look forward to seeing these skills develop further throughout the year!
