Anglicare Ambassadors
Last week we officially welcomed our 18 new Year 10 Anglicare Ambassadors into this important leadership and service role within our school community by attending the Anglicare Ambassador Launch.
The Anglicare Ambassador Program partners schools with Anglicare WA, a leading Western Australian not-for-profit organisation that supports individuals, families and young people experiencing hardship. Anglicare WA works across a wide range of services including youth support, homelessness outreach, financial counselling, family services and emergency relief, with a strong focus on restoring dignity, stability and hope.

At the launch event, our ambassadors joined students from other schools who share a passion for service learning and social justice. They learned more about the real challenges facing vulnerable people in our community and the practical ways young people can make a meaningful difference. The day was interactive and inspiring, helping students understand that leadership is not simply about titles – it is about action.
Although the Street Connect bus was not present at this year’s launch, Anglicare and our Ambassadors continue to work closely with this vital youth outreach service. Street Connect supports young people aged 15–25 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, providing practical assistance, advocacy and referrals to help them access safe accommodation and essential services. Our ambassadors play an important role in raising awareness and supporting initiatives connected to this program throughout the year.
Students also learned about Thread Together, an initiative that redistributes brand-new clothing to people in need, ensuring that individuals experiencing hardship can access quality clothing free of charge. Programs like this highlight the importance of dignity, choice and respect in service work.
Our ambassadors are already full of enthusiasm and ideas. Throughout the year, they will lead awareness campaigns, fundraising initiatives (including a pop-up Op Shop) and service opportunities within the school, encouraging our wider community to engage with issues such as homelessness, youth vulnerability and financial hardship.
We are incredibly proud of this group of young leaders. Their willingness to step forward, serve others and advocate for those in need reflects the values we hope to foster in all our students.

Excitement is building as we approach one of the most inspiring events on our service-learning calendar – the World’s Greatest Shave, taking place on Friday 27 March (Week 9).
This event supports the Leukaemia Foundation, which provides practical, emotional and financial support to Australians facing blood cancer. In Australia, 53 people are diagnosed with blood cancer every day, and funds raised help provide accommodation near hospitals, transport assistance, counselling services, and vital research into improved treatments and cures.
We are thrilled to share that our school community has already raised $2058. This is an incredible effort and a testament to the generosity of our families, students and staff. With several weeks still to go, we are hopeful that we can build even more momentum and work towards (and beyond) last year’s outstanding total of $15,482.
Every donation, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference.
One of the highlights of this event each year is seeing members of our staff step outside their comfort zones to support the cause.
This year, the following brave teachers will be participating:
Whether shaving, cutting or dramatically changing their hairstyle, their willingness to lead by example speaks volumes about the culture of service and compassion within our school community.
We thank them for their courage and generosity.
Student fundraising in action
Our 14 incredible student participants have been busy setting up their personal fundraising pages and sharing them with friends and family. Many have set ambitious goals and are already working hard to reach – and exceed – them.
A reminder that one of the most effective ways to support our students is by sharing their fundraising links within workplace networks and professional communities.
To continue to support us, please donate via our fundraising link: World's Greatest Shave - St George's Anglican Grammar School 2026.
The World’s Greatest Shave is more than just a day of shaved heads and creative hairstyles. It is an opportunity to stand in solidarity with those facing blood cancer, to raise awareness, and to demonstrate what can be achieved when a community comes together for a cause bigger than itself. We look forward to another powerful and meaningful event in Week 9.

Today, our school community once again proudly came together to celebrate Green for Growth Day, continuing a new tradition that is quickly becoming a meaningful and powerful part of our calendar. Students and staff wore green ribbons to represent growth, empowerment and equal opportunity for all. It was fantastic to see the sea of green across the campus, serving as a visual reminder of our shared commitment to promoting gender equality and creating a community where everyone feels valued and supported.
In PCG, students took part in a reflective activity, working together to complete the statement: “For a future of growth, I will…” Each PCG member contributed their ideas to a collective sign, committing to personal actions that promote respect, inclusivity and equal opportunity. From pledges to speak up against inequality, to supporting others and leading with kindness, the responses demonstrated the maturity and compassion of our students. The display now stands as a reminder that meaningful change begins with individual action.
Green for Growth Day is more than just wearing a colour – it is about encouraging important conversations, raising awareness, and empowering students to use their voices. Throughout the week, students engaged in discussions about leadership, opportunity, and the importance of ensuring that all individuals, regardless of gender, have access to education and the chance to thrive.
We are also proud to once again support the Malala Fund through our fundraising efforts. The Malala Fund advocates for girls’ education worldwide, working to ensure every girl has access to 12 years of free, quality education. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we were able to contribute BLANK towards programs that help remove barriers to education in regions where girls face significant challenges.
A special acknowledgement must go to our student leaders, who continue to drive this initiative with passion and purpose. Their commitment to creating change within our school and beyond is something we are incredibly proud of.
Thank you to all students, staff and families who supported Green for Growth Day. We look forward to continuing to grow this initiative in the years to come and strengthening our commitment to equality, inclusivity and opportunity for all.
