Biz -E -Kidz Update

From Libby Hanna, Biz-E-Kidz Coordinator

Shop 'til you drop at Senior Biz-E-Kidz

Bookings are now open for our Pupil-Free Day Program on Friday 5th of June, see Compass for more info or get in touch with us on 9329 5529 or oshc.north.melbourne.ps@education.vic.gov.au

A group of grade 4 children have been working on a very impressive book shop all term: 'Avocado Books' ...or 'Avacado Books'. Every afternoon at Senior Biz-E-Kidz, the shop opens and the production begins.

Here are a few samples for you to browse, may I suggest 'The Cat: A Remix'?

Signs have gone up around Biz-E-Kidz and a rival publishing house temporarily opened until they decided it was best to join forces.

We also have had an origami flower shop opened up this week. Both industries share a currency. Can you guess what it is? Gumnuts. Always. The official currency of Biz-E-Kidz.

A new edition of the Biz-E-Kidz Zine has now been published, browse a copy next time you visit us and see what children have been up to at Biz-E-Kidz over the past few weeks.

This week on our menu we have trialled brown rice and it is a hit. Children told me they like brown rice because: it stays hot, it's like sushi, it has lots of flavour, it's sticky. Children especially are benefitting from our revamped menu while the weather is so cold. Who wouldn't want some steaming rice with marinated tofu, edamame and seaweed - or potato wedges, tzatsiki and cucumber. On Tuesdays and Thursdays Jack cooks Mexican beans to go with the rice or gluten-free pasta with a fresh sauce. Bellissimo, grazie Jack!! Jack has been at Biz-E-Kidz for 11 years, and came to Biz-E-Kidz as a child too.

Did you know that not-for-profit, community-owned childcare has a peak body? Since 1971, It Takes A Village has advocated for community-owned, not-for-profit childcare in federal parliament and facilitated invaluable networking between childcare professionals, among a million other things! Biz-E-Kidz is a proud member of 'It Takes A Village' and we encourage our community have a look at their vital work here: https://itav.org.au/
